The history of the sport complex begins with 1947 year, when in the village "Stayki" was broken a tent camp for preparation of the Belarusian sportsmen for the all-Union sports parade in Moscow. "Stayki" came as desirable to sportsmen. The government of the Republic has gone towards their wishes, and soon in the village the civil work have begun. The first wooden structures appeared, then in 1956-1958 years some one-storied brick buildings have risen. The stadium of manual games was equipped, and to the year 1962 a sports — gymnastic hall, hotel with 260 places, and a canteen were constructed. A dam have been built on Trostyanka river, and the artificial lake has spread on 18 hectares. About 1969 year this country sport camp functioned only in summer, that did not fully satisfied needs of sports movement of the Republic. And then "Stayki" become a base of the all-the-year-round preparation of the sportsmen.
Under the decision of the USSR Committee for Sport in the year 1973 the republican base "Stayki" was renamed into Olympic sports camp. In middle of the 70s by preparation of the sportsmen to ÕÕII summer Olympic Games in addition were entered into operation some hotels, medical rehabilitation center and basic sport constructions. Subsequently spectrum of sports and recreational opportunities of the complex was essentially extended.
Now complex "Stayki" occupies 82,71 hectares and is the largest sports base of the country on preparation of national commands of the Republic of Belarus to championships of Europe, World and Olympic Games on more than 20 kinds of sports.
The complex for many years has glory of a high quality learning and training center not only in the own country, but also abroad. Traditionally in "Stayki" the sportsmen carry out preparation for summer Olympic Games from the Olympic of 1972 year in Munich and finishing XXVIII by Olympic Games of 2004 year in Athens.
The basic directions of activity of the complex are:
- Creation of conditions for preparation of national commands of the Republic of Belarus, sportsmen of a highest level of skill and sports reserve;
- Maintenance of realization of sports — mass events which are carried out on direction of the Ministry of sports and tourism of the Republic of Belarus;
- The organization (independently or on the basis of the arrangement with other legal entities) of events in the sphere of physical culture and sports;
- Organization and realization of the meetings of learning and trainings and sports events for the sportsmen of a high class and amateurs;
- Preparation of commands participating in various international tournaments, world championships, Europe championships, Olympic Games;
- Organization of the international, republican and mass sports competitions and entertainment events;
- Rendering sports services to the population.
"Stayki" is always open for those who conduct healthy lifestyle. The various enterprises, educational institutions, establishments and collectives of the Republic use services of the sports complex. The Olympic sports complex is visited also by many international delegations.
It is possible to tell today with pride and reliance, that "Stayki" will henceforth carry out with success honorable and responsible mission directed on qualitative preparation of the sportsmen to crucial competitions and strengthening of health.
