All history of "Stayki" is closely connected to domestic sports. Any other sports complex of the former Soviet Union has not brought up such amount of talents. How many national teams, clubs and stars of world scale have chosen this place for trainings and restoration of forces, wouldn't know, probably, even the aborigines. Belarus grew and continues to grow the professional sportsmen of the highest class. Certainly, you will never win an Olympic medal, doing trainings on a school stadium. To achieve in sports of the large heights, the appropriate sports base is necessary, in which role "Stayki" acts. The complex is adapted to rest and realization of the training meetings on more than 20 kinds of sports.
In 1970 the learning and training meetings of the most famous URSS teams were held here. Volleyball players, fencers and the fighters of free and classical style were preparing here to the serious competitions. In two years in "Stayki" begun the pre-Olympic trainings on free and classic fighting. And those sportsmen performed successfully at XX games in Munchen.
By the Olympic Games of 1976 year in "Stayki" passed preparation of USSR national commands on free and Greco-Roman wrestling, the fencers and the archers, which have won on XXI Olympic Games 25 gold medals. It is more than half of gold stock received by the Soviet sportsmen in Montreal!
During preparation to the Olympic games in 1979 learning and training meeting of the Soviet Union teams on 12 different kinds of sport was held in the sport camp. The same year in the same place National teams on classic and free fighting, sport gymnastic and football of Yugoslavia, Hungary, Cuba, Poland, Bulgaria, Vietnam, Algeria, Mongolia, Czechoslovakia, Romania took their trainings.
With the Belarusian kindliness and hospitality the participants of the Olympic 80 national commands of Algeria, Yugoslavia, Syria, Finland, Spain, Costa Rica, Iran were met by Olympic camp "Stayki" in July. Earlier here have lead their learning and training meetings here teams of Japan, Tunis, Finland, and at the end of 1980 the national team of Afghanistan on free struggle trained in "Stayki".
There are perfect examples for imitation among the senior generation of glorified Belarusian Olympic winners, who deserved applauses of many stadiums and sports arenas of the world more than once. Their names are well familiar to the amateurs of sports in all corners of the planet. They are Oleg Karavaev, Alexander Medved, Romuald Klim, Matiya Itkina, Viktor Sidyak, Tatyana Samusenko, Elena Belova, Olga Korbut, Alexander Romankov, Vitaliy Shcherbo, Alexander Kurlovich, Elina Zvereva, Igor Astapkovich, Natalia Sazanovich, Gennadiy Oleshchuk, Yanina Korolchik and many others …
